How We Work
Whether you’re a homeowner, landlord or tenant we’re here to provide electrical expertise and a quick, clean and safe service. We will always try to personalised our approach to your specific needs, using our knowledge and experience to realise your electrical ambitions for your home. However, there are a few general services our clients are after:
When you get in contact with us we’ll triage your enquiry to best meet your needs. We will likely designate your enquiry as either Larger Works and arrange a site survey and a quote or Smaller Works and make a visit on a Time a Materials basis.
Larger Works – What to Expect
For more ambitious works, such as a Consumer Unit Replacement, a house rewire or renovation we’ll arrange a free site survey where we’ll chat through what you’d like to achieve along with our assessment of the existing electrical installation. We will take the time to listen to your requirements and offer customised solutions that meet your specific needs. We’ll then produce a comprehensive, transparent and itemised quote based on our visit and are happy to adapt our quote to your budget.
If you decide to proceed we will send you a deposit invoice, a copy of our Ts and Cs and offer you a start date. Our domestic electrician, along with an improver or apprentice, will arrive between 8am and 9am on our agreed working days and will usually work through until 4.30pm. Will will make sure the property is left safe, clean and secure when we leave.
It is important to remember that the specification of electrical work often changes as the electrical installation progresses. We encourage our clients to add, remove or change things as we work. We will update your quote with any changes on a regular basis. We will also request stage payments in line with current progress.
Once we have reached practical completion, with both you and us in agreement that the project is complete, we will request the payment of any outstanding balance. Once the balance is settled, we will issue you with any necessary certification and notify the work with the local authority via our Competent Person Scheme if required.
Small or Emergency Works
If you need an emergency electrician, or if the issue is small or localised – such as a light that has stopped working – we will suggest that the work is performed on a Time and Materials basis.
We will inform you of our current Time and Materials rates and book in a date and approximate time with you. We will invoice you as per the agreed rates on completion.
We know time is critical with emergency electrical work. Our emergency electrician will strive to respond to your inquiry promptly and arrive at your doorstep on time. We value your time and aim to complete our work efficiently without compromising on quality.
If you have any questions about how we work, or would like to discuss a job, please give us a call.
Part P and Local Authority Notification
Electrical safety is our top priority. Our domestic electricians follow strict safety protocols and adhere to industry standards to ensure that all electrical work is completed to the highest level of safety. You can have peace of mind knowing that your home is in capable hands.
Newly completed electrical work in a domestic dwelling must comply with the current BS7671 Wiring Regulations currently in the 18th edition. Part P of the Building Regulations applies to fixed electrical installations in dwellings. These include gardens and shared amenities in blocks of flats, and any building that shares its electricity supply with a dwelling. Local building Control needs to be notified of certain types of electrical work.
Business Electrical adheres strictly to the BS7671 Wiring Regulations and will arrange notification of any notifiable work via our Competent Person Scheme NAPIT. We will also forward a minor works certificate or installation certificate to you for your records.
